A huge quantity of Yaba has been recovered in a special anti-narcotics operation conducted by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar. In this operation by Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB), 360,000 pieces of Yaba worth an estimated Tk 110 million were seized.
According to BGB sources, on Thursday (November 27) at 12:10 pm, a special patrol team of Palangkhali BOP based on secret information took position in the Farir Bil area. At around 12:30 pm, BGB members challenged two persons crossing the border from Myanmar and entering Bangladesh. At that time, they quickly fled into Myanmar, leaving behind three black bags in their hands.
Later, the bags were searched and 36 airtight blue packages wrapped in khaki tape, i.e. a total of 360,000 pieces of Yaba were recovered.
The BGB said that a combing operation was conducted in the area overnight to catch the smugglers, but no one was arrested.
Ukhia Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin, PSC said,
"Intelligence surveillance has been further strengthened to identify the escaped drug smugglers. The process of handing over the recovered Yaba to Ukhia Police Station is underway."
He also said,
"The BGB has always maintained a strict stance on border guarding, drug suppression and smuggling prevention. Such operations will be conducted regularly in the future as well."
It is worth noting that the Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) under the Ramu Sector of Cox's Bazar Region has been achieving significant success in anti-drug operations for a long time.
