Allegations have emerged in Sreepur of Gazipur that a woman, under the pretext of providing jobs, has been trapping several men in various fraudulent schemes and extorting money through blackmail. One such victim is Md. Faruk Ahmad, son of Abdur Rashid, a resident of South Bhangnahati area under Ward No. 2 of Sreepur Municipality.

Md. Faruk Ahmad has filed a written complaint at Sreepur Model Police Station against the alleged fraudster.

According to the complaint and the statement of Md. Faruk Ahmad, on the morning of 11 December, a woman named Razia Akter, daughter of Abdur Razzak of Ward No. 1 of the municipality, took BDT 4,000 from him citing urgent family needs. However, she failed to return the money within the agreed time and instead made various excuses. At one stage, she allegedly threatened him, saying she would implicate him in a false case if he demanded his money back. She even attempted to harass him by threatening to file a false case of attempted rape.

Md. Faruk further stated that the woman had earlier approached him seeking help in securing a job. After reviewing her documents, when the job did not materialize, she took BDT 4,000 from him, which later became a source of severe trouble for him.

Local residents of the village reported that the woman frequently creates conflicts with people over trivial matters and harasses them by filing false allegations. Many villagers claim they are distressed and frustrated by her repeated actions.

Another alleged victim said that the woman had first addressed him as her “brother” and took his signature as a witness on a stamp paper. Later, she used that stamp paper to demand money from him and even filed a written complaint at the police station to extort a large sum. He warned others to remain cautious, describing her as extremely dangerous.

Regarding the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Sreepur Model Police Station, Mohammad Nasir Ahmed, stated that complaints have been filed by both parties. He added that the police are investigating the matter and appropriate legal action will be taken after uncovering the truth.
