Staff Reporter
On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Great Victory Day of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, Dhaka College unit, organized a bicycle rally on Tuesday (December 16). The rally began at 7:45 am from the Central Shaheed Minar of Dhaka College, circled the National Parliament House area, and concluded at the same venue. Around five hundred students participated in the rally.
The programme was presided over by the President of Islami Chhatra Shibir Dhaka College unit, Mostakim Ahmed, and conducted by Abdur Rahman Afnan. The Central Secretary General of Islami Chhatra Shibir, Nurul Islam Saddam, attended the event as the chief guest. Among the special guests were Central Office Secretary Sibgatullah Sibga and Central Student Rights Secretary Amirul Islam. Leaders and activists of the Dhaka College unit were also present.
Addressing the rally, Chief Guest Nurul Islam Saddam said that Bangladesh, earned through immense sacrifice and bloodshed, is now standing at a critical crossroads. He stated that Islami Chhatra Shibir, as in previous years, is observing Victory Day through month-long programmes across the country.
He added that the organization has undertaken student-friendly initiatives such as marathon runs, bicycle rallies, health service campaigns, and discussion sessions to promote health awareness and self-reliance among the youth. Through these activities, Islami Chhatra Shibir aims to inspire young people with the vision of building a united and prosperous Bangladesh.
Referring to the current political situation, he said that certain groups are attempting to revive old political narratives to create division within the nation, which the youth have already rejected. He mentioned that the post-independence period witnessed the suppression of freedom of expression, the establishment of one-party rule, famine, and political instability, during which Islami Chhatra Shibir faced severe oppression.
Concluding his speech, he reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to continue its struggle for building a corruption-free Bangladesh under patriotic leadership and for establishing equality, human dignity, and social justice as envisioned in the Proclamation of Independence.
